UPDATES:
1. Denise: Upcoming workshops/speakers include a presentation by Spencer Hardy, Bee
Biologist at the VT Center for Ecostudies. April 5. Location TBD.
Spencer leads the VT Wild Bee Survey for VCE and the Vermont Atlas of Life. Drawing upon
his knowledge of native bees and other pollinators, Spencer will introduce you to the bees
that make their homes in your gardens and meadows. What are their habits, favorite foods
and where they live. You’ll learn about the VT Atlas and how you can contribute your pictures
and descriptions to the Atlas, a user-friendly tool for enthusiasts, education and monitoring
changes in populations and species.


Meadow Planting on Eden St./E. Main St. Hyde Park. TBD, a warm day late (April or early
May). Volunteers needed.


VT Flower Show. March 7,8, and 9 (10am-6pm) at the Champlain Valley Expo, Essex

seminars and workshops, and buy tickets ($28, $23 (seniors). Here’s a quick sampling of the

Gardening for the Night Shift: Pollination After Dark. Presenter Emily May studies the fascinating world of
nighttime pollinators.


Ahead of the Storm: How to Design, Build & Plant Garden Landscapes That Attract Pollinators &
Wildlife, Absorb Water and Delight All the Senses. Presenter: Andrea Morgante

Examples: an event like last year’s Planting Patio Containers for Pollinators at the Oxbow, or
plant the remaining section of the rain garden on South Prospect Street in Hyde Park? Other
ideas, a spot needing pollinator plants in your town? Tentative date and time, schedule and
volunteers.
