Silver Maple (Acer saccharinum)

Growing Conditions: Grows on dry open woods, rocky bluffs and pastures. They perform best in full sun to partial shade, and in moist, well-drained soils.

Ecological Benefits: It is an important wetland and riparian tree benefitting animals and insects in these areas both as food and habitat. They are great for riparian plantings as they are deep rooted, and draw and distribute water to other species surrounding it as well as stabilizing riverbanks.
