Winterberry (Ilex verticillate)
Growing Conditions: Full to partial sun, moist, well drained soil, acidic soils (pH 5.5-6.5)
Ecological Benefits: Many bird species eat the berries of winterberry some of which include eastern bluebirds, hermit thrushes, wood thrushes, American robins, catbirds, northern mockingbirds, brown thrashers, cedar waxwings, and white-tailed sparrows.
