Forest Camp 2024

For over twenty years, LCCD has been providing nature-based education through the Lamoille County Nature Center, Mud City Forest school and our Forest Camp program. Days spent in the fields and woods allow children to develop a long and lasting relationship with nature that will inspire our future leaders and stewards of the land. This year we will be offering 4 weeks of camps! Camps will be 4 days a week, 9am-3pm Mondays-Thursdays. Camps take place at our 40 acre off grid nature preserve in Morrisville and are led by experienced environmental educators. Your kids will come home dirty, happy and exhausted from a full day of playing, exploring, and learning. Most of our camps this year offer a mix of structured activities (such as a craft project or lessons and activities), with free time to explore the forest or play high-energy traditional camp games like gaga ball and camouflage. Please select a camp theme that suits your child’s interests and energy needs.

$250 for LCCD Members and $300 for non-members (Contact us for Scholarship information)

      The Enchanted Forest - Best for Ages 5-8 - June 24th-27th 2024

Magic abounds in the woods of the Nature Center. We will explore hidden nooks and crannies, looking for signs of magic and the creatures who created them, build them houses, leave them gifts and make crafts in their honor. Will you be one of the lucky ones with an encounter?  In this semi-structured camp, children will be given a balance of structured activities and opportunities for free play and supervised exploration of the forest. Campers will create enchanted-forest themed crafts using mixed media. This camp is a safe, supportive space for younger campers and will include opportunities for everyone to participate and make new friends.

Wild Woods- Best for Ages 5-14 - July 1-5 (no camp on the 4th)

Calling all wild children! Back by popular demand! If you want to run through the woods, build forts, play 30 different types of tag, track animals and spend all day in the mud then this is the camp for you. This camp is ideal for high energy kids who always want to be on the move. There will be a variety of crafts, art activities, and movement games. We work with campers to support their individual needs and create activities based on their needs and interests.

Forest Scout Skills- Best for Ages 5-14 - July 8th-11th

Made for scouts, all scouts, any scouts: girls, boys, sparrows, come as you are. We will focus on forest skills and knowledge such as first aid, whittling, compass skills, tracking, and environmental stewardship.  We will be creating the week of activities with camper input so that each day is filled with activities that are interest-based and hands-on.  Every activitiy will be scaled and supported to meet the needs of the individual.

Demi-God Training Camp-  Best for Ages 7-14 - July 15th-18th

Will this session be lead by Centaurs? Can you take on Medusa with your eyes closed? Will you best the Cyclops? Mythology will infiltrate our games, our crafts and our imaginations in this mythology-themed camp. We will include Greek mythology, Egyptian mythology, and Norse mythology in our camp activities, which will include movement games, storytelling, crafts, art, forest exploration, and time to make new friends.
